Fan fiction

March 24th, 2013 (03:45 pm)
current mood: Exhausted

OMG I'm writing fan fiction again.  Haven't written anything in at least 5 years.  What is it about the Almighty Johnsons that make me want to write shit down?

Armageddon Expo

October 9th, 2011 (01:39 pm)

current location: Home
current mood: determined
current song: The whir of my laptop.

So preparations for Armageddon are underway.  We're raising money this year for Debra in honour of a good friend and a passionate con goers memory.  We've been given a table in Artist Alley to set everything up.  We've made the poster of Liam with the message that we wrote for his funeral, along with lots of photos from con and parties.  The dedication video is in production.  We're getting posters, fliers, collection tins, and a banner off of Debra.  The only things I need to worry about now is making sure there's enough people to man the table for the weekend and putting together a raffle basket.  Hopefully we can get some donations from some friends who have some stalls at the con.

Cons yet again

August 28th, 2011 (10:27 pm)

current location: Bed
current mood: excited
current song: Tim Russ - Great Divide

Well as of last weekend I have now met all of the 6 main Star Trek Captain.  4 of them this year.  Kate Mulgrew was absolutely lovely and Tim Russ puts on a good concert.  I got to speak to Leonard Nimoy over Skype and ask him about the Lazy song video clip and how it came about.  Apparently it was a family thing.

I'm starting to get excited about dragon Con next year, even though it's a year away.  Trying to plan out where I'm going to be going and what I'm going to do while in the US.  I know I'll be going to Orlando as I have friends attending Celebration 6 (I've been dared to wear my Star Trek costume around the hotel).  I'm hoping to get to Vegas and San Fransisco as well.  I really want to do the chopper flight out to the Grand Canyon.  I have friends telling me it's really expensive at $450, they obviously have no idea about the cost of chopper flights because that's cheaper than I was expecting it to be.  And in Atlanta I definitely want to swim with a Whale Shark at the aquarium.  Now all I have to do is find a better job with much better pay so I can save the money to go.

Cons Again

April 16th, 2011 (11:07 pm)

current location: Bed
current mood: tired
current song: Star Trek III

Well exceptionally tired and broke now.  3 cons in 3 weeks.  Doctor Who con with Colin Baker & John Leeson (general ticket), Star Trek con with William Shatner, Scott Bakula, Suzie Plakson, J.G. Hertzler (in Klingon costume), & Robert O'Reilly (also in Klingon costume) (Platinum Ticket) & Supanova with Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Tom Felton, Peter Williams, Charisma Carpenter, Jodelle Ferland, Tahmoh Penikett, Denis O'Hare, & Isobelle Carmody.  So very tiring and very expensive but totally worth it!!!  My "People I've Met" list on IMDB is now up to over 130 and I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting people.

I'm now also a committee member for Austrek.  Why did I do that again?  Hasn't been too stressful so far but it is early days yet.  Me and Kara have been put in charge of next years Men of Star Trek calander as we were so very disappointed in this years, one shirtless photo in the entire calander and it's tiny and of Shatner.  I've already started compiling photos mostly of Karl Urban and some of Chris Pine and a couple of Zach Quinto.  It's going to be on par with this years Women of Star Trek calander with it mostly naked photos.

Life in General

December 28th, 2010 (09:03 pm)

current mood: tired

Well this year I've spent way too much money on conventions (10 cons in total, 2 interstate), quit my job at Maccas and got a much better full time one in the pool industry (stable income is good), managed to finally get a life (thanks to no longer working at Maccas), have a break over the holiday period for the first time in seven years (again thanks to no longer working at Maccas but working in the building industry), caught up with people I haven't seen in years, and also managed to have quite a bit more fun than I have in years (but am paying for it in fatigue, stupid Fibromyalgia).

Next year is looking like I'm going to be spending even more money at conventions (already have about 8 in the diary, 1 interstate), I'm hoping to get to New Zealand for a holiday, I'm going skydiving, getting another tattoo (just have to decide which one to get first), And continuing with the whole catching up with people I haven't seen in a while and social life thing.

I have so many fond memories of you that go as far back as I can remember.
Unfourtunately now they are tainted by the anger and contempt I now feel for you.

current location: where all the mozzies are
current mood: contemplative
current song: buzzing

Why oh why does there always have to be so many cons around the same time?

Got the big Stargate con next week (Eeeeee RDA!!!) then 2 weeks later Tricon, then 2 weeks after that Star Trek con in Adelaide, then 2 weeks after that Supanova.  Wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't spending a grand at the Stargate one but I am.

Be surviving on the bare minimum of things for a while me thinks.

June 13th, 2009 (05:15 pm)

current mood: sad

Well what a shit week.  First Marg's dad died so she's been pretty upset, though it was expected he has been sick for a long time.  But the worst happened Thursday night.  I was at work and all the managers and Kevin started rocking up saying there had been an emergency managers meeting had been called.  They all sat down the end I could see them and hear bits and pieces of the conversation from Cafe.  I only heard a small amount but that coupled with Debbie crying I guessed what had happened but I really hoped I was wrong.  The managers took over running the store and called all the crew over.  They told us what had happened, Gen and her passenger had died in an accident a few hours before.  Most of the crew on were newish so weren't as affected as those of us that had known her for quite some time.  They sent us all back to work, me crying, and expected us to do the job to the same standard we had been.  Not bloody likely.  I didn't take long for word to spread and soon we had a lot of crew in the store. As Tegan said it was good to see the crew coming together.  We were there until about 2am talking about Gen, giving hugs to whoever needed them, basically just taking comfort in each other, even though some of us had never spoken before.

It was hard driving to work the next day, nearly burst into tears several times on the way down but managed to hold it back, until I got to work and saw the flags flying at half mast.  Kylee got told off by Erin for telling everyone (3 people is everyone, right?) and organising them to come into the store (even though she didn't even know the names of some of them let alone their phone numbers), because she wanted to tell everyone.  But other than Erin being a selfish bitch it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, it had been pretty busy all day and continued to be most of the night so it kept our minds occupied.  The crew that were there on Thursday night seem to have developed a bond of sorts, asking each other if they're ok, if they got any sleep, etc.  Most still can't believe she's gone and can't imagine what her brother's going through.  They was very close and a few of us have come to the conclusion he probably won't come back to work, it will be way to hard.

Gen was a great person, always positive, help you out if she could, a pleasure to be around.  She was one of those people that made work fun a times.  I don't know one person that didn't like her.  I wish I had known her better, I wish I had talked to her Thursday afternoon when I saw her instead of getting distracted by work.  She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.

Star Trek Premiere

April 8th, 2009 (08:15 pm)

current mood: bouncy

OK, so I was one of the very lucky people that got to attend the World Red Carpet Premiere of the new Star Trek! As the tickets sold out in about 8 minutes, I missed out originally but I managed to get a couple of tickets off ebay which turned out to be better than the tickets my friends had got hehehe. Anyway flew up to Sydney yesterday got in at about 1:30 so I started getting ready pretty much as soon as I got to the hotel. I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Darling Harbour as Pete gets discounts. Still hadn't quite sunk in that I was going, actually it still hasn't a day later.

We got there at a bit after 5 and found ppl and got orginised to get photos and autographs. I managed to get JJ Abrams, Eric Bana, Karl Urban, John Cho, and Zachary Quinto's autographs and a photo with John Cho but missed out 3 times getting Chris Pines. Eventually we did walk the red carpet up the stairs of the Opera House with Pete taking photos the entire way. We had a drink and then went up to find our seats, after handing in all recording equipment. JJ was called up to introduce the film and the actors that were there, with jokes about 3 of them wearing the same tie, Eric Bana was called out last and decided he was going to live a dream...and started singing the national anthem, very badly. Thankfully he didn't keep it up for very long.

About the movie (may contain spoilers)Collapse )

After the film we were told we could take home the STAR TREK signs but unfortunately I had no way of getting it home. Later on we saw people wondering past with the S, T, A, & R, then later more with T, E, & K, don't know what happen to the other R. A group of us went and had dinner and talked mostly conventions and actors that we've met. I also discovered cheap shoes are cheap for a reason. Got back to the hotel exhausted.

On the way home I got to the airport and called Lyn and Chris who were there already. They managed to get me into the Virgin Blue lounge which is pretty cool as I was flying with Jetstar, free food and drink and comfy seats, can't go wrong really.

So in conclusion when it comes out to cinemas I'm going to see it again!!!!
